Swissair was the national airline of Switzerland between its founding in on the 26th of March 1931 and bankruptcy in 2002. On 5 October 2001, commercial flights on most routes were gradually resumed thanks to a federal emergency loan of over CHF 450 million. This occurred, in part, to ensure Switzerland’s continued accessibility as a business location and to establish a basis for the creation of Swiss.
