Kelly Collins was active for many years as a driving instructor at the Skip Barber Racing School and worked as a stunt driver on Hollywood film productions. His racing career began in the 1980s in motocross. He progressed through the Ford and Mazda racing formulas to GT and sports car racing in the 1990s.
Between 1996 and 2013, he competed in 157 races. He won two races and celebrated 20 class victories in North American sports car series. His class wins included the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring. He competed four times in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where his best result was 10th place overall in 2000.
